The NHS Job Evaluation Group (JEG) is a national technical sub-group of the NHS Staff Council.  The remit of JEG is to continue to ensure that the NHS Job Evaluation Scheme (JES) is fit for purpose and part of that is to produce advice and information on the NHS JES to achieve as far as possible consistency in application of the scheme. The membership of JEG includes representatives of the NHS across the four UK countries, the four UK Health Departments and representatives of the NHS trade unions.  Advice agreed by JEG is endorsed by the Staff Council before being issued.  Agreed advice is listed in this section of the website under two categories:

Template for Reviewing/Updating of a National Profile – Requests to consider a review of a national profile should be made by completing the template and forwarding to the following sonia.pollock@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.  The JEG Profile Group will then consider the points raised and make any amendments considered necessary, feeding back accordingly.  If a new/amended profile is produced this will then be submitted to the NHS Staff Council Executive for agreement.  Once agreed by all interested parties, the new/amended profile will be published.  Criteria for a review on a national profile

  • where the qualifications in the KTE factor have been superseded by different ones
  • where the wording in the profile makes it difficult to match
  • where the profile refers to practices no longer relevant
  • where there are gaps in the rationales used to illustrate the factor level given
  • where there are mistakes in the bold statements, rationales or factor levels
  • where the wording for a factor requires more clarity or explanation

or any other technical issue not covered above.
