Job Evaluation

The Job Evaluation (JE) Scheme was specifically developed for the NHS across the UK and determines the basic pay of staff covered by Agenda for Change. This is done by measuring NHS jobs across a range of factors and allocating relevant levels according to the job role being considered. Each of these levels have an allocated points score and the total points determine the appropriate pay band for the job. This allows jobs in differing professions but with equal overall weight to be appropriately measured.

Detailed information on the JE scheme can be obtained from the Job Evaluation Handbook – Updated 1 Feb 2024. For information relating to the JE processes in your own Board area you should contact either your local AfC team or HR Department.
